ANGBC provides an excellent opportunity for your 3rd through 8th grade daughter in the Appleton North High School district to learn the sport of basketball, experience the excitement of school spirit, and build lasting friendships with other girls her age! As a community club run through a volunteer base, this is also an excellent opportunity for parents to get involved and engage with other families in the community. ANGBC provides an opportunity for the entire family!
Here is quick overview of ANGBC:
- The ANGBC Board is comprised of volunteer parents. Any ANGBC members interested in helping the Board are welcome and encouraged to do so.
- The ANGBC basketball program is open to 3rd through 8th grade girls in the Appleton North district.
- All coaches are selected by the ANHS Varsity Staff and ANGBC Board and use methods and teachings under the direction of the ANHS Staff.
- In general, team practices are held twice a week beginning in October and running through February or March (7th and 8th grade may go later).
- The playing season is made up of Saturday league games and weekend tournaments which start in November and run through Feb or March. Weekend tournaments require travel to other schools in NE Wisconsin. For 7th and 8th grade teams, the ANGBC season officially shuts down in January and February to allow girls the option of playing on a Middle School basketball team. The 7th and 8th grade ANGBC season picks up again in March. 7th and 8th grade coaches may hold optional skills sessons during January and Feburary but these are not official ANGBC practices.
- The exact number of tournaments per team will vary due to team size, but each girl will be invited to the following number of tournaments (including 1 home tournament):
o 3rd grade: 3 tournaments
o 4th grade 3-4 tournaments
o 5th and 6th grade 5-6 tournaments
o 7th and 8th grade 6-7 tournaments
- In addition to tournaments, HOVL league games are played on three Saturdays in Nov and Dec for 3rd through 6th grade.
- Playing time:
o 3rd through 6th grade: Playing time will be relatively equal, but may be altered based on a player’s skill, attitude, attendance, work ethic, etc.
o 7th and 8th: Playing time will not be equal and will be determined by skill, attitude, attendance, work ethic, etc.
o The 3rd and 4th grade teams will be divided into a manageable size for each event and players will rotate to each event evenly – there are no set teams.
o 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teams with 13 or less players will be divided into a manageable size for each event and players will rotate to each event evenly – there are no set teams.
o 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teams with 14 or more players will divide the season into two distinct opportunities: (1) League and (2) Traveling seasons:
(1) League Season
· Season runs from October through December
· Squads will be composed of 7-10 evenly talented athletes with players rotating on squads as much as possible – there are no set teams
(2) Traveling Season
· Season runs from approx Jan through March for 5th & 6th and March through early Apr for 7th & 8th (exact end date depends on team schedule). The ANGBC season officially shuts down in January and February for 7th and 8th grade.

- Wisconsin State Invitational Championship Tournament - WSICT (spring and fall)
o ANGBC encourages and fully supports our Club teams to prepare for and participate in the WSICT spring and fall tournaments. The WSICT and any preparation tournaments, however, are separate from the Club enrollment fees. Players/parents will be required to pay the cost of WSICT and the preparation tournament(s)
o The head coach will select a team of 8-12 athletes based upon skills, attitude, teamwork, effort, etc.
o Playing time will not be equal.
o The enrollment fee for ANGBC is $125.
o ANGBC team jersey is $35 and can be reused in future seasons.
o Navy blue shorts can be purchased from a vendor of your choice (including our on-line apparel store).
o ANGBC members work together to run the home tournaments and home league games for which your daughters are scheduled to play. Work assignments and schedules are organized by the ANGBC Board.
o On an exception basis the Head Coach of a team may request to the Board that a player on his or her team play up a grade level. The Board will review the request with the Head Coach and make a determination. This request must come before any games or tournaments are played for that season. Once the Board has agreed to allow a player to play up a grade level and the parents accept this offer, that player will continue to play up a level in subsequent seasons.
