What is ANGBC about?

ANGBC provides an excellent opportunity for your 3rd through 8th grade daughter in the Appleton North High School district to learn the sport of basketball, experience the excitement of school spirit, and build lasting friendships with other girls her age!  As a community club run through a volunteer base, this is also an excellent opportunity for parents to get involved and engage with other families in the community.  ANGBC provides an opportunity for the entire family!

Here is quick overview of ANGBC:

  • The playing season is made up of Saturday league games and weekend tournaments which start in November and run through Feb or March.  Weekend tournaments require travel to other schools in NE Wisconsin.  For 7th and 8th grade teams, the ANGBC season officially shuts down in January and February to allow girls the option of playing on a Middle School basketball team.  The 7th and 8th grade ANGBC season picks up again in March.  7th and 8th grade coaches may hold optional skills sessons during January and Feburary but these are not official ANGBC practices.

  • Team Composition:
o    The 3rd and 4th grade teams will be divided into a manageable size for each event and players will rotate to each event evenly – there are no set teams.
o    5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teams with 13 or less players will be divided into a manageable size for each event and players will rotate to each event evenly – there are no set teams.

o    The head coach will select a team of 8-12 athletes based upon skills, attitude, teamwork, effort, etc.

  • Volunteering:
o    ANGBC members work together to run the home tournaments and home league games for which your daughters are scheduled to play.  Work assignments and schedules are organized by the ANGBC Board.
  • Playing Up:
o     On an exception basis the Head Coach of a team may request to the Board that a player on his or her team play up a grade level. The Board will review the request with the Head Coach and make a determination. This request must come before any games or tournaments are played for that season. Once the Board has agreed to allow a player to play up a grade level and the parents accept this offer, that player will continue to play up a level in subsequent seasons.
